This website is mostly about home cooking. It is not about fancy, michelin-star-deserving food, but good, honest food, prepared with sweat and burned fingers for those I love. I believe home cooking is about nourishment, it’s a way to protect those you care for, to give them pleasure and make them happy and healthy and whole.
Medvjed means “bear” in Bosnian, and literally translates into “honey eater.” It’s a charmingly descriptive word that suggests a gentle relationship between the language and the animal, nothing grizzly about it.
While I am not primarily a honey eater (some might call me nutella-jed) I do like honey, especially the stuff I get from my farmers market in the nice beehive-shaped bottle.
I am currently a graduate student at NYU, getting a Masters in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages. I am also student teaching at a High School on the Lower East Side of Manhattan.
